Where to Ride Your Motorcycle or Scooter
Now that you’ve fulfilled your dream of scoring the perfect motorcycle or scooter, all that’s left to do is start burning rubber. Northern Border Run
To put it simply, the Northern Border Run is what bikers dreams are made of. You’ll start off in North Woodstock, CT. Head west on 197 for approximately 25 miles. It’ll turn into 190, which will take you on a scenic ride until you reach Stafford Springs. Take this opportunity to stop for a bite to eat and to fill your tank. Get back on 190 and travel west until you cross the Connecticut River. The endpoint will be at Route 159 near Enfield, CT.
This route will take you through a series of forest and farmland areas that rest along the MA/CT border. You’ll find that the roads are smooth and they’re relatively quiet as far as traffic goes. If you enjoy the twists and turns, you’re in for a treat. You’ll pass some magnificent views along the way, courtesy of the Nipmuck State Forest and Shenipsit State Forest.
Northern Appalachian Mountains Ride
If you want a longer ride that’s going to provide you with some of the best scenery in the state, check out the Northern Appalachian Mountains ride. Start out in Granby, CT and weave your way through the Tunxis State Forest toward North Canaan. The route will then turn south and follow Rt. 44 to Salisbury. Toe the New York state line in Sharon, CT. You’ll pass through Kent Falls State Park. Take 7 South along the Appalachian Trail again until you reach New Milford.
There are a plethora of campgrounds, museums, amenities, and small towns along the way for stopping. If you’re up for it, this could make for the perfect multi-day trip. This route is a long loop, so it’s ideal for those looking to make a nice weekend adventure out of it. If you’re an avid antiquer, there are quite a few gems worth checking out all along Route 7. This is a popular destination, so if you’re planning to stay the night you should book ahead of time.
